Our Story

More Than 100 Years

The history of “Halwa Al-Saigal” dates back over 100 years, when Grandfather Jassem Al-Saigal (may he rest in peace) began his journey in the confectionery industry in Qatar, weaving a historical tale that brings its owners back to the folds of childhood and memories of the past. “Halwa Al-Saigal” was a primary choice in traditional Qatari occasions such as weddings, holidays, diving trips, and hunting expeditions.

History of Sweet
making equipment

In our world steeped in tradition and heritage, we find that candy making tools carry a long and distinguished history. One of the most prominent of these tools is the “pot”, which is considered one of the basic tools in making sweets. It is a pot made of copper, and is used to cook sweets over a fire.

We are also proud to have imported a group of rare copper pots, which were made with care and handcraftsmanship. These pots were used in the manufacture of traditional Qatari sweets, as the large ones were used in the manufacture of sweets that reached an estimated weight of 50 kilograms, and the small pots were designated for making rahash and lihat al-shayeb.

Some of these pots are believed to be between 80 and 180 years old, highlighting their historical value. In January 2021, one of the large pots was polished, and its value today is about 15,000 Qatari riyals. These ancient tools were inherited by the current generation from the grandfather, Jassim, who invested his career in making sweets in Qatar.
